Tuition and Fees New students are welcom to sign up for lessons at any time during the year. However, tuition is based on a 11 lesson semester. Lessons beginning after the start of a semester will be pro-rated. Semester Tuition is $80 a month for a weekly 30 minute lesson, and is payable the first lesson of each month. A late fee of $10.00 will be accrued for late tuition payment. Tuition may also be paid quarterly for a full 11 class semester: September 7, December 7 and March 7, $220 for 30 minute lessons. There are eleven lessons per quarter or semester. Tuition ensures you that your time spot is reserved for the specific chosen day and time. You are essentially paying for a time spot whether you show up or not for lessons!

For school aged Piano Students only: The enrollment fee is $20, which includes a subscription to Piano Explorer, recital and printing costs. If there is a second student in the family, the enrollment fee for that student is $10. Entry fees for AIM and special events are due upon receipt and separate from the enrollment fee. Each AIM participating student should bring a 3-ring binder to lessons which will be used for organizing AIM materials and lesson assignments.

Form of payment - Cash, check or PayPal/Credit Card (No PayPal account necessary). Checks are payable to "Heart and Soul Music." You will be charged $25.00 for any returned checks to cover banking fees.

Book Fees Books are paid for as needed. Vocal Students - you will be required to purchase your own books and music for lessons and performance. Attendance Policy Please arrive on time. No lesson will be extended for a student who is not ready on time. If your lesson is from 4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. and you come at 4:10 p.m., the lesson will still end at 4:30 p.m. This insures that lessons will not run behind.

Lessons missed by students are not refundable. A lesson cancellation for a good reason can sometimes be accommodated with a 24 hour notice. No make-ups will be offered for missed group or make up lessons.

Piano Students - Make up lessons will be scheduled on the last Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. If more than one student requires a makeup, a group lesson will be held.

Voice Students - In order to qualify for a make up lesson, a 24 hour notice is required. Make up lessons will be scheduled per teacher availability.

ALL STUDENTS - In the event of a major winter storm, the teacher may cancel lessons, offering a group make up class, reimbursement or credit. You will always be notified of these changes. Please make sure that I have a good daytime contact number for you.

Piano Students - cancellations may be made up via a group make up lesson scheduled at the discretion of the teacher.

Swaplist Guidelines This is a voluntary list where your name, phone number, and lesson time is published on a "lesson swap list". All students who opt for this will receive a username access and password. The swaplist is located on the home page of this website. Students who opt out will not receive the username and password.

Lessons can be rearranged and traded with other students for important and unavoidable conflicts. The "swap list" can be used at any time but not to exceed two swaps a month. Please notify me of changed lessons times arranged.

Practicing and Preparation Piano students should have a regular uninterrupted daily practice on either a proper sized keyboard or a well-tuned instrument. Students should strive to practice 30 minutes, 5 days a week. In all cases quality time is preferred to quantity. Students are encouraged to set goals and keep a daily practice record. Students are expected to complete their written assignments in a timely manner. AIM Students who repreatedly "forget" their workbook assignments will not be allowed to participate in the exams. Parents of younger children - please review weekly assignments with your child!

Vocal students - your are expected to practice your material and do vocal exercises as frequently as possible between lessons. Please do be prepared for each lesson by bring music, CD, and/or lyrics or sheet music please as suggested at lessons. Any vocal or piano music books for practice will be purchased by student. Please bring a flash drive (USB stick) to each lesson. Lessons are recorded for your personal practice and will be transferred to the USB drive at the end of each lesson.

Students, bring all your music to your lessons. This includes your binder, CDs you are using, assignments and AIM materials. Please remember to return CDs and music if borrowed.

Food Please do not bring food, drinks or chewing gum into the studio! The exception is voice students, water bottles are allowed. Please finish snacks before you arrive and wash your hands before coming into the studio. Some of you have questioned the gum rule, so I will explain. It is really hard to count and chew gum at the same time, and we all know how important it is to count!

Termination Students may be terminated for the following -

No shows - two weeks in a row without contact with the teacher.

Continued unruly behavior - parents, you may be asked to be in attendance of lessons for students. If behavior continues to be a problem, you may be asked to terminate lessons.

Should you need to discontinue lessons, please be courteous by giving a two week notice if all possible. If you have cancelled after having paid monthly tuition, please note that this amount is non-refundable.
